'Limitless Compassion' Series
Our response to art will be individual to us. We might see artwork which we love and others we might question. At times art can be made to ‘make a statement’ and although this is not the reason behind this series of work, it has been made in response to social crises which we are witnesses to across Ireland and the world today. I am interested in the potential of art to frame some of our more difficult conversations.
‘Circular Road’ addresses division and inequality. With layers of stories represented in each piece in this series, part of this work is taken from an experience from growing up in Northern Ireland. With vivid memories of making friendships through fences, wondering why ours and many other towns were divided. While trying to understand why racism still exists in today’s world. With the piece ‘Shattered Heart’ & ‘Wounded Soul’ I was looking at the effect of trauma on children and young people experiencing life in a country being torn apart by war.
