'See Me' Series

The ‘See me’ series has been inspired by our older generation. Taken from the memory of the striking physical features of our grandparents to the local character who everyone knows and respects. Working within participatory arts, specifically in an Arts and Health context, I have had the opportunity to work with people living with Dementia and am honoured to have shared in creative conversations and stories with many inspiring people.

‘Girl in the Mirror’ and ‘Echoing Reflections’ are full of stories, the ones which are vivid and the ones which are fading from memory, while ‘Seeking an Anchor’ is a piece which was inspired by a couple I saw in a small village not long after moving to beautiful West Cork: Two friends or neighbours sitting on a carpet roll on the side of the street. They seemed like they were laughing so hard there could have been tears of happiness rolling down their faces!
